Academy For Dramatic Arts is seeking a Technical Director to oversee scenic construction and the front-of-house experience for our upcoming production of Xanadu Jr. (March 20-29). This role is central to bringing this show to life, ensuring safety, efficiency, and a professional experience for both cast and audience. The TD will also mentor volunteers, sharing skills and fostering a collaborative backstage environment. Responsibilities - Plan,supervise, and help design all scenic elements, including construction, installation, and strikes. - Collaborate with the Artistic Director and production staff to bring the vision of each production to life. - Manage production schedules to ensure all set and scenic tasks are completed on time. - Supervise and train volunteers in set construction, stage safety, and backstage operations. - Maintain and organize all scenic materials, tools, and storage areas - Plan, supervise, and help design the front-of-house experience, ensuring a creative, safe, and welcoming audience experience. - Troubleshoot any technical or logistical issues related to the stage or audience experience. - Ensure all set construction and stage work complies with safety standards. - Participate in production meetings, offering technical insight and solutions related to the stage and audience experience. Qualifications - Experience as a Technical Director, Stage Manager, or similar role in theatre production. - Strong knowledge of scenic construction, stagecraft, and backstage operations. - Leadership and organizational skills to manage crews, schedules, and materials. - Commitment to mentoring youth and volunteers in a collaborative, educational theatre environment. - Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during production periods. - Knowledge of theatre safety standards and best practices.
