Kids 31 Second Scary Movie Contest - Win Cash and Prizes!
The Lakewood Young Filmmakers Scary Movie Contest is a fun way to introduce young filmmakers to movie making competitions and film festivals. Kids ages 7-17 will make a 31 second scary movie and submit it to the festival. A panel of distinguished judges will select 3 winners at a public screening. Filmmakers can win cash, prizes and the top 3 films will play at a local movie theater in front of a real audience. Awards & Prizes First Prize - A movie making prize package that includes a video camera, tripod, microphone and other goodies to help make your next masterpiece. Valued at $2,000. And your scary movie will be shown at The Cedar Lee Movie Theatre on October 28 and 29 before the Tim Burton Halloween classic Coraline in 3D! Second Prize - Two FREE filmmaking classes at Lakewood Young Filmmaking Academy taught by award winning film and TV industry professionals. Third Prize - Your scary movie will be shown at The Cedar Lee Movie Theatre on October 28 and 29 before the Tim Burton Halloween classic Coraline in 3D! Rules & Terms You must be between the ages of 7 and 17 to enter this contest. Your movie must be exactly 31 seconds in length. All movies must be PG or G. No guns may be used (real or fake.) No realistic depiction of violence may be included in the film. Be scary but not gory. Entries must be filmed and edited by the person submitting. Your parents can help but the idea and execution needs to come from you. It is a kids contest after all. You can submit more than one movie (separate fees apply for each submission) All submissions that meet the deadline will be judged. The judges will decide if your movie is appropriate for public screening. Selected movies will be shown at a public screening at Lakewood Public Library on October 27, 2017 Three winners will be announced at the screening.
