Broadway World opens nominations for 2015 Awards
Christina Mancuso, Editor, Broadwayworld.com, invites nominations for its 2015 Cleveland area theater awards. Nominations may be made by linking to: http://www.broadwayworld.com/cleveland/article/Nominations-Open-for-the-2015...
In the past, these nominations have been very disorganized, with many errors. Name spellings, incorrect categories, equity and non-equity confusion, and educational programs included in theatre categories. This has led to an integrity loss for these recognitions for many. It has caused people who have been nominated, to become frustrated because the negative feedback is not about their nominated work, but how many times these nominations are a disheveled mess. I don't know who is in charge of this, but please have the information and nominations checked out professionally before they are posted. This will restore a lot of confidence. These so-called awards are just a little popularity contest. If folk find it amusing or gratifying, that's great. Enjoy. 1. Anybody can nominate, and nominate, I think, as many times as they like, as no identification seems to be required. 2. Many nominators are likely to be ignorant of such distinctions as which theatres regularly offer Equity contracts. That confusion will persist, as will the absence of any really effective editing of the process. 3. As for the eventual voting, people can "vote" for work they haven't even seen - and do. For my money, that level of mendacity tends to invalidate any "recognition" or "winning". That's my two cents on the whole thing. Don't get me started on the cynical attaching of the label "Broadway" to this whole sham. On Sat, Oct 10, 2015 at 6:39 PM, via NEohioPAL < neohiopal@lists.neohiopal.org> wrote:
