Just a tag to the "give blood" message.  Stored blood only lasts 5 days.  NY 
and DC will need blood well into next week in beyond.  The response to blood 
banks has been wonderful in the immediate hours after the tragedy, but they 
will still need your help next week and in the weeks to come.  If you don't 
have time now, or if the blood banks are already booked, please don't give 
up.  By going next week, you will still be a tremendous help to those 
desperately in need.
