Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre's "Modern Masters" 
master class series celebrates the African Diaspora through dance by hosting 
3 Award-winning Dance Educators, Choreographers, Directors and in upcoming 
series of community master classes and talk-back sessions.

LULA WASHINGTON (Lula Washington Dance Theatre-Los Angeles)
On Tuesday, October 23, 2001 from 4:30pm-6:00pm Cleveland Contemporary Dance 
Theatre's "Modern Masters" series will host internationally acclaimed Lula 
Washington, founding artistic director of the 20 year old Los Angeles based 
dance company Lula Washington Dance Theatre.  Ms. Washington will be 
conducting a contemporary modern dance master class for intermediate/advanced 
students and professional dancers of the Northeast Ohio dance community.

TROY O'NEIL POWELL (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre)
On Saturday, October 27, 2001 from 10:30-12:30pm and 1:30-3:30pm Cleveland 
Contemporary Dance Theatre will again proudly host Troy Powell, current 
resident choreographer of Ailey 2 and former dancer with the Alvin Ailey 
American Dance Theater.  Mr. Powell will be conducting 2 Horton-based master 
classes, one for beginning/intermediate dancers and the second will be for 
advanced students and professional dancers of the Northeast Ohio dance 
community.  The beginning/intermediate master class will take place from 
10:30 am until 12:30pm.  The master class for advanced students and 
professionals will take place from 1:30pm until 3:30 pm.  Each master class 
will be followed by a brief question and answer period with the artist.

APRIL BERRY (Ballet Met/Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre)
On Sunday, November 18, 2001 from 2:00pm-4:00pm Cleveland Contemporary Dance 
Theatre will again proudly host April Berry, former dancer with the Alvin 
Ailey American Dance Theatre and serves currently as the Director of 
Education for Ballet Met, Columbus.  Ms. Berry will be conducting a master 
class in the Katherine Dunham technique for intermediate/advanced students 
and professional dancers of the Northeast Ohio dance community. This master 
class will be followed by a brief question and answer period with the artist.

The fee is $15.00 per class.  We strongly suggest that you pre-register by 
calling 216.556.2471.  Space is extremely limited.  All classes will take 
place at the Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre studio located in the Hodge 
School Annex building at 1075 East 74th Street, Suite 100 B.  Parking lot 
entrance is located on East 76th Street off of St. Clair Avenue.
