This weekend, Omo Oddara, led by Jes=FAs Alfonso, musical  director of =
Los Mu=F1equitos de Matanzas, will perform a feature-length  concert on =
Sunday 11/11 at John Carrol's Kulas Auditorium. There are also  =
Folklorica Classes on Saturday 11/10 and on Friday 11/9, Susana Arenas  =
Pedroso returns to Touch Supper Club for Cuban Salsa Lessons  followed =
by a Live Rumba. Read on for details, and please pass it  on.

Omo Oddara is an AfroCuban folklorica troupe headlined by Jes=FAs =
Alfonso, musical director and composer for the Grammy nominated, Los =
Mu=F1equitos de Matanzas, the longest running and best known =
Rumba/Folklore group in all of Cuba. Miguel Bernal Nodal, the lead =
drummer, and master dancers  Susana Arenas Pedroso and Jose Francisco =
Barroso of Havana's  Raices Profundas ("Deep Roots") are also featured. =
Ana Perez  also of Los Mu=F1equitos and Sandy Perez of Groupo  Afrocuba =
complete the ensemble. A group of U.S. artists tour with and  accompany =
the troupe.

Miguel Bernal founded Omo Oddara ("Children of Goodness") in spring =
2001.
Mr.  Nodal is a master percussionist, singer and dancer with twenty =
years
of  professional experience. He has performed and taught throughout the
world  including Japan, Europe, Russia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Columbia, and
the United  States. This is Mr. Bernal's third visit to the United =
States
and Omo Oddara is  a direct product of this trip. In addition to =
conducting
classes, Omo Oddara  will present a two-hour performance that =
demonstrates
many forms of AfroCuban  drumming, dance and song including the three =
main
types of Rumba: Yamb=FA,  Guaguanc=F3, and Columbia; also Bemb=E9, =
Iyesa, Guiro, Arara and other types of  traditional AfroCuban music.
