JCC Halle Theatre announces Winner 
of the 2001 Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition 

The Eugene S. & Blanche R. Halle Theatre of the Jewish Community Center is
pleased to announce the winner of the 2001 Dorothy Silver Playwriting
Competition: Visions of Right by Marcia Cebulska.  The staged reading of
this play will be on Saturday, December 15 at 8:00pm in the Halle Theatre,
located in the Mayfield Jewish Community Center at 3505 Mayfield Road in
Cleveland Heights.  This event is part of the New Jewish Plays Festival,
December 13 - 16 at the Mayfield Jewish Community Center.  
All events in the New Jewish Plays Festival are free and open to the public.

About Visions of Right by Marcia Cebulska
Visions of Right concerns a photographer's confrontation with a religious
leader who preaches hate and demonstrates against gays, Jews and artists.
The play is moving, provocative, and surprisingly funny.  The staged reading
is directed by local actor and director Charles Kartali, and it will be
performed on Saturday, December 15 at 8:30 PM. Playwright Marcia Cebulska
will engage the audience in a post-show discussion.

About Playwright Marcia Cebulska
Marcia Cebulska has had 19 plays produced in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago
and Indianapolis.  Her scripts have been chosen for development at the
Eugene O'Neill Center, Sundance Playwrights Lab, and the Shenandoah
Playwrights Retreat.  She has been the recipient of numerous fellowships and
grants including the Jane Chambers International Award and the 2001 Kansas
Arts Commission in Playwriting.

About the Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition
The Annual Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition is designed to encourage
new plays that provide significant, fresh perspectives on the range of
Jewish experience.  Submissions for next year's competition are currently
being accepted, and are due by May 15, 2002.  Plays should be sent to the
Halle Theatre, JCC, 3505 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44118.  For plays to
be returned, a self-addressed, stamped envelope should be enclosed.  For a
