' OUR SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY ' is a nostalgic 40's musical revue conceived &
submitted to North Canton Playhouse in Oct 2000, a year before the
fateful 911 tragedy. My intent was to present musical pieces pre-post
WWII, reminiscent of our nationalism/patriotism, lest we forget.
Slate includes jazz/swing/blues classics; love/torch ballads; Broadway
show tunes & a patriotic grand finale to thank/pay tribute to our Vets &
Rosie Riveters for preserving the freedoms we enjoy today. A skit man,
tap group & ballroom-swing dance couple are cast, but I'm seeking the
following for this intimate theater performance:
VOCAL CAST NEEDED: 6-8 male & female proficient singers, ages 19 & up,
baritones,
tenors, & mezzo to
high sopranos, one of whom should be high
lyric theatrical (A
flat above middle C to high C). All need good
range, in case parts
are modified. Seeking best mix for solo, duet,
trio work, & choral
radio sound. Some choral music SATB, some
SSA. Good ear training
essential for intertwining melodies, as well
as harmonies. Must be
able to learn quickly & well in whatever
way works best for one
& want to work in an esprit de corps style.
AUDITION INFO: Mon, May 6th & Tues, May 7th 7:00PM
North Canton Playhouse Mc Manaway
Studio (Hoover High School annex)
7th Street NE, off Main.
32 bars from Big Band/Swing Era,
including musical theater, ballads
& up tunes. No contemporary or 'a
cappella.' Some vocal styling
encouraged. Pianist/tape/CD player
provided. Bring 1 pg resume, copy of
music, marked & prepared for pianist
& calendar for any possible
rehearsal conflicts. Rehearsals begin
Sun, June 2, & run Sun -Thurs, 6:45-
9:30 PM. Run through June 30, on. No
rehearsal Thurs, July 4th. Double
tech Sun, July 7th.
Performances run from opening Thurs,
July 11- closing Sat, July 27.
