Huntington Playhouse will open it's 2002 season with the newspaper comedy
"The Front Page". The production will run May 9 to June 2nd with
performances on Friday & Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and one Sunday matinee
on June 2nd at 2:00PM.
Dick Feagler returns to the Huntington Stage as Walter Burns, the salty
newspaper editor who will do anything to scoop his competitors.
Set in Chicago during the 20's, "The Front Page" is a story of a newspaper
reporter, Hildy Johnson, (played by Greg Mandryk) who is trying to quit his
job and begin a new life with his fiance in New York. Just as he is walking
out of the press room at city hall where he went to say his good byes to his
reporter friends who are covering a hanging, there is a jail break of the
condemned man. Rather than leave, Hildy becomes part of the story in ways he
never imagined. Retired WKYC reporter John Herrington plays the Mayor of
Chicago in the production as well. The show is directed by Managing Director
Tom Meyrose.
Huntington Playhouse is located at 28601 Lake Road and is an affiliate of the
Cleveland Metroparks. The box office number is 440-871-8333. Box office
hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays after 1:00 PM.
