Hudson Players Announce Auditions for Rollicking Comedy Dearly
Departed<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Hudson Players have announced auditions for the hilarious comedy Dearly
Departed by David Bottrell and Jesse Jones. Auditions are to be held at The
Barlow Community Center on Oviatt St in Hudson, September 8 & 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Needed are 4 males and 5 females along with a variety of mourners and
numerous additional roles. Performance dates are scheduled for November 1,
2, 8, 9, 15 & 16. Perusal Scripts are available at the Hudson Library.
Additional information is available by calling 330-655-8522. Anyone
interested in serving on the set or backstage crew is also encouraged to
attend or contact the group with their area of interest.

Directed by Rich Jagunic, the play follows the antics of the beleaguered
Turpin family members, who prove that living and dying in the South are
seldom tidy and always hilarious. They've got a funeral to plan and -
between the feuds, marital flings, and Macaroni and Ham Loaf Surprise - it
may escalate into a multiple-coffin memorial service. By the time the
Turpins sort through the hangovers, money problems, and headstone engraving
options, they show that coping with life's losses can turn out to be
drop-dead funny. The oldest sibling, Ray-Bud, drinks himself silly as
funeral bills mount. Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a
pack of no-neck "monster" children and a wife who suspects him of infidelity
in the family car. Spinster sister Delightful copes with death as she copes
with life: by devouring junk food. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn to
their friends and neighbors for comfort. Of course, the eccentric community
of misfits manages to pull together and help each other in their time of
need..

Auditions are open to all with no previous experience required. Auditioners
should be prepared to read from the script. Dearly Departed is being
produced by special arrangement with Dramatist's Play Service Inc.

The Hudson Players are members of the Ohio Community Theatre Association,
The American Association of Community Theaters and the Hudson Chamber of
Commerce and have been entertaining area audiences for over 57 seasons as a
non-profit community theater organization. They are one of Ohio's longest
running community theaters.
