The satirical office comedy, BELOW THE BELT, opens School of Theatre & Dance
Season
=09Cleveland, Ohio =96 Directed by Dr. Marya Bednerik, BELOW THE BELT runs October
4 - 13, at Kent State University=92s School of Theatre & Dance. This outrageous
comedy about corporate life with a maniacal boss, ambitious brown noser and an
unbearable workplace takes place in Wright-Curtis Theatre in the Music &
Speech Center.

Written by Richard Dresser and directed by Dr. Marya Bednerik, this hilarious
corporate comedy is just another day at the office full of revenge, torture
and pain. BELOW THE BELT is a satirical look at company men that touches
everyone who has ever had to deal with a maniacally devious boss, an ambitious
brown noser or an unbearable workplace. This unique comedy runs October 4 =96
13 in Wright-Curtis Theatre of the Music & Speech Building on the Main Kent
State University campus. Performances are Tuesdays =96 Saturdays at 8 PM and
Sundays at 2:30 PM.
The cast of BELOW THE BELT includes=85
Dr. Marya Bednerik (Director) has written, produced and directed numerous
productions for university and professional theatres. She has worked at the
Williamstown Theatre Festival, Summerstage in Terre Haute, the Circle
Repertory Lab theatre in New York, the Provincetown Playhouse, and the
Oldcastle Theatre in Bennington, Vermont. She was named as a Gian Carlo
Menotti Guest Artist and directed at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in
Charleston, South Carolina. Her American College Theatre Festival production
THE CANTERBURY TALES played at The Kennedy Center. Recent publications include
"Some Particular Pursuits: the Double Fiction of Simon Gray" in Simon Gray: A
Casebook and "Writing the Other" in Marsha Norman: A Casebook. Dr. Bednerik
has presented a number of papers before the international meetings of The
Pinter Society.
Cliff Bailey (Hanrahan) is an MFA student in Kent State University=92s Acting
program. He was last seen at KSU as Father Jack in DANCING AT LUGHNASA and as
W. O. Gant in LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL. Prior to his return to KSU Cliff appeared
as Lenny in OF MICE AND MEN at Weathervane, for which he won a Best Actor
Chanticleer Award. His favorite roles include Oliver in THE WAITING ROOM and
King Henry VIII in A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS. When not performing, Cliff works as
a stagehand for Iatse Local #48 and is an active freemason.
Christopher Seiler (Dobbitt) is a third year MFA actor at Kent State
University. Porthouse audiences may remember him from ONE FLEW OVER THE
CUCKOO'S NEST (Ruckley) and BRIGADOON (Mr. Beaton.) Chris has been seen in
such KSU productions as CHICAGO (Fred Casely/MC), THE MISANTHROPE (Philante),
LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL (Jake Clatt) and THE MARRIAGE OF BETTE & BOO(Boo).
Remy Halliday (Merkin) is a sophomore in Kent State University=92s Theatre
Department. Last year he was a member of The Greenroom, a long form
improvisational teen drama. Remy also appeared as Dr. Allan Pearl in the
Student Theatre Festival production of WAITING FOR GUFFMAN.
Performances are Tuesdays =96 Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM. Tickets
are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors, KSU Alumni and KSU Faculty/Staff and $7
for students with any valid school ID. Groups of ten or more can receive
discounted tickets by calling 330-672-0103. The School of Theatre & Dance box
office opens on September 18. Box-office hours are 12 PM =96 5 PM, Mondays =96
Fridays and Saturdays during the run of the show from 3 PM - 7 PM. Tickets
can be purchased by calling 330-672-2497. The box office accepts Visa,
MasterCard, and Discover. Tickets purchased by phone must be held with a

This season the School of Theatre & Dance is offering a variety of
subscription packages. Theatre Subscriptions include admission to all four
plays and are $32 for Adults, $26 for Seniors, KSU Faculty, Staff and Alumni,
and $22 for Students. A Dance Subscription includes admission to all three
dance concerts and are $22 for Adults, $18 for Seniors, KSU Faculty, Staff and
Alumni, and $16 for Students. A Full Subscription includes admission to all
School of Theatre & Dance productions and is $54 for Adults, $44 for Seniors,
