The Cleveland Play House
Presents World Premiere Comedy
Cleveland Playwright's Bright Ideas Lights Up the World of Parenting

Cleveland Play House Artistic Director Peter Hackett announces the World
Premiere of Eric Coble's Bright Ideas, October 15 through November 10, 2002
in the Drury Theatre. The Cleveland playwright's dark comedy about the
pressures of parenting is the second offering in The Cleveland Play House's
2002-2003 Mainstage Season, sponsored by KeyBank.

Bright Ideas marks the mainstage debut for Coble, who earned one of this
year's AT&T: OnStage awards. Coble's work has been produced in previous
seasons, as well as the current season, of CPH's Children's Theatre.

Chosen from among the offerings in the 2001-2002 season's Next Stage
Festival, the premiere of Bright Ideas continues The Cleveland Play House
tradition of developing new work for the American Theatre. As with Murphy
Guyer's The Infinite Regress of Human Vanity, which also grew from the
theatre's playwriting program, Bright Ideas will be the centerpiece of the
2002-2003 Next Stage Festival, set to run the weekends of November 9-10 and
16-17, 2002.

STORY OF THE PLAY
How far would you go to put your child on the fast track to success?
Following in the footsteps of a certain Shakespeare classic (Out, out
damned spot!), Bright Ideas storms through the minefields of modern
parenting, and for Genevra and Joshua Bradley, the question is hardly
rhetoric. Their three-year-old son, Mac, is next on the waiting list to get
into Bright Ideas Early Childhood Development Academy - and everyone knows
that once you're accepted there, your life will unfold with glorious ease.
Josh and Genevra have scrambled all their lives, but now are but one
fateful dinner party away from the ultimate in parental success: the golden
pre-school.
