Chagrin Valley Little Theatre presents The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940
by John Biishop opening November 1. Directed by Bob Kilpatrick, this
non-musical comedy will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through
November 23. The Little Theatre is located at 40 River Street, Chagrin Falls
"This is a show that appeals to anyone who loves theater," says Kilpatrick.
The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is set in a mansion in Chappaqua, New
York where the creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop have
assembled for a backer's preview of their new show. The Stage Door Slasher
had murdered three chorus girls in the first show, and, once everyone
assembles at the mansion, he is on the loose once again. As the troupe
tries to get ready for their performance, bodies drop, bookcases swivel,
hidden panels are revealed, a blizzard rages and comic mayhem rules. A
spoof on the "locked room" mystery genre popular in the 30s and 40's, the
show treats audiences from teens to adults to a murder mystery with a
definitely funny twist.
Starring in the production are Cheryl Fousek as Nikki Crandall, Christopher
Nappi as Eddie McCuen, Irene Von Tunen as Helsa Wenzel, Joy Borland as
Elsa Von Grossenknueten, Marcia Darby as Bernice Roth, Bill Kratz as
Patrick O'Reilly, Kim Carabotta as Marjorie Baverstock, Bob Abelman as Ken
De La Maize, Bob Fadeley as Michael Kelly and James Darvas as Roger Hopewell.
Tickets are available at the theater Box Office, 40 River Street, Chagrin
Falls, or by calling 440-247-8955. Box Office hours are 1 to 6 p.m., Monday
through Saturday. Tickets prices are $16, $10 for seniors and $7 for
students.
