Set your VCRs on Sunday Nov 10th at 2pm. Channel 43 will air "The
Real Block" a half hour, completely improvised parody of "The Real World"
Starring our 5
Block hosts, and produced and directed by Rick Ferguson.
This is original local programming created and produced in Cleveland.

Synopsis:
Five WUAB 43 the Block hosts are picked to live in a house for a
year. But then they realize the budget wasn't big enough, so now the
Five block hosts have to live in someone's apartment FOR AN HOUR! See
what happens when personalities clash right in front of your eyes.
Imagine all the drama of "The Real World" condensed into 23 minutes. (Yeah,
not an hour!)
Background:
The Real Block is a completely improvised program, there was no script.
During the 5 hours it took to shoot the show, the actors were told what the
scene needed to be about, but when the cameras rolled, no one knew what
would come out of their mouths. This is the first time this has been done on
a local level in Cleveland, and the results are hilarious.

CREDITS

The REAL BLOCK stars:

Jack Hourigan has enjoyed living in Cleveland for the past five years. She
has performed at the Beck Center in Lakewood and Lakeland Community Theater
as well as various theaters in her home country of Canada. Hourigan has a
small part in the soon to be released movie, American Splendor, The Harvey
Peckar Story Jack can also been seen 5 nights a week performing at The
Second City Cleveland in their new revue "For Those about to Iraq, We Salute
You" Jack's hobbies include letting strangers parallel park her car for her,
avoiding cheese and running marathons. She's only lost one car, but ran fast
enough to write down her license plate numbers for the authorities.
Cody Dove is a native of New Mexico. He moved to Cleveland to pursue his
dream of performing for The Second City. You can see him along with Jack 5
nights a week in The Second City Cleveland's new revue, "For Those about to
Iraq, We Salute You". He has also trained with the Groundlings and Improv
Olympic West, both based in Los Angeles. Cody believes that 43 The Block
will be his ticket to further adventure on the trail of life. "It won't be
a bumpy ride, as long as I can find some authentic Tex-Mex cuisine here in
Cleveland," Dove says.
Quianna Snyder. Qui Qui (pronounced KEE'-KEE) auditioned for 43 The Block on
the very last day of the submission deadline because of a dare made to her
by her grandmother. Apparently, grandma wanted her to get a high-paying job
so that she could move out of the house (if only she knew the TRUTH about
The Block's pay scale). Qui Qui has spent the last few years plucking
eyebrows and washing hair as a local cosmetologist. Her fashion couture
played a critical role in the decision to select her as 43 The Block's
reigning diva.
Mike Polk. A Kent State graduate, Mike majored in "The Porky's Trilogy and
its Effect on Modern Culture" and Kegging. Mike can also been seen weekly
on the cable access hit show "Last Call Cleveland". His good looks and quick
whit make him a hit with the ladies everywhere. When not working for The
Block, or shooting and writing for "Last Call" Mike doesn't do much of
anything.
Mikel Mahoney. Born and raised right here in Cleveland, and presently
roughing it out on the streets of Mayfield Heights, Mikel is the youngest
member of 43 The Block. At 19, he's also the only cast member with a shaved
head. "The Block, I've been told, is all about marketing," Mikel says. "To
cash in, I'm announcing that the back of my head is for rent for sponsor
logos." Mikel was overcome with emotion when told that he beat out hundreds
of other Block-talent wannabes for the job. "This is bigger for me than the
day I got my first tattoo," he says. Mikel is also an avid basketball player
and writes R&B music in his spare time.
Rick Ferguson - Director/Producer. Rick attended film school in Toronto
where he directed numerous short films and music videos , he also took
classes at the Second City Training Centre in Toronto. He moved to Cleveland
in 1996. He joined Cabaret Dada Improvisational Theatre over 3 years ago,
and recently graduated The Second City Cleveland Improvisation Conservatory
program. He has successfully directed and produced two sketch comedy revues
for Habitat for Insanity. Rick is the Senior Writer/Producer for the
promotions department of WOIO/WUAB TV.
