Actors' Summit Theater presents=20

Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales=20
November 29 through December 22=20

Christmas =E2=80=94 A Child's Christmas in Wales, that is =E2=80=94 opens th=
e day after=20
Thanksgiving, Friday, November 29, at Actors' Summit Theater, 86 Owen Brown=20
Street, one block north and two blocks west of the clock tower, in downtown=20
Hudson. The Jeremy Brooks and Adrian Mitchell stage adaptation of Dylan=20
Thomas' heartwarming story continues through December 22, with performances=20
at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 3:30 p.m. Sundays.

The Play=20

This holiday celebration, which is fast becoming an Actors' Summit tradition=
,=20
was adapted from Thomas' prose recollection of a single fun-filled Christmas=
=20
Day during his childhood in 1930s South Wales. The play =E2=80=94 commission=
ed by the=20
Great Lakes Theatre Festival when Vincent Dowling was the artistic director=20
and first performed there in 1982 =E2=80=94 begins with the adult Dylan tell=
ing how=20
all of the Christmases of his youth have rolled into a single ball of=20
memories: "I can never remember whether it snowed for six days and six night=
s=20
when I was twelve or twelve days and twelve nights when I was six."

>From this quiet, magical beginning we follow Dylan, the child, as he enjoys=20
"a funny sort of breakfast" of cockles and laverbread, plays in the park wit=
h=20
friends, returns home to celebrate with his aunts, uncles and cousins until=20
catastrophe strikes =E2=80=94 the turkey catches fire in the "new gas oven."=
 With a=20
little help from the fire brigade and a very special aunt, the day is saved,=
=20
and the play ends with a sleepy-but-happy Dylan creeping up to bed. Filled=20
with family, friends, food and wonderful music, A Child's Christmas in Wales=
=20
is a perfect holiday outing for the entire family.=20
