* Meet Franz Welser M=F6st, Music Director for the Cleveland =
Orchestra since last fall. The forty-two-year-old conductor, born in =
Austria, started out as a concert violinist. However, a car accident =
left him unable to play professionally. Thus, began his career as a =
conductor. He's considered the next generation of great music =
directors, and in part one of an interview, Welser M=F6st will describe =
his style as a conductor.
* What do a Wright Brothers glider and a Star Wars fighter have in =
common? The connection between a fragile Wright Brothers glider and a =
souped-up Star Wars fighter may not be obvious at first, however, these =
two flying machines have more in common than one might think. =
ideastream's David C. Barnett reports on the connection between the two.
* A group of local artists ban together to give peace a chance. The =
world has changed dramatically since the events of September 11th. We =
feel vulnerable, and the possibility of war has created a fear and =
uncertainty felt nationwide. As a result, a number of Grassroots =
efforts for peace have sprung up everywhere. Recently, a group of =
Northeast Ohio artists pooled their creative talents for a weekend of =
peace.
(Applause repeats Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m.)
