http://hometown.aol.com/fsternfeld/FiddlerOnTheRoofCainPark.html

and the area premiere of
BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL
July 31, Aug 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 in Alma Theater
Story and Book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming
Music and Lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe
Directed by Victoria Bussert
Leonard DiCosimo, music director
Janiece Kelley-Kiteley, choreographer
USA Today: "Anyone with a healthy sense of humor about human and artistic
folly will eat up this crisp, delightfully tart and immensely satisfying
confection."
Broadway Beat: "With its camp characterizations and keen dialogue, BAT BOY
provides lighthearted entertainment on the surface with a subtle subtext you
can really sink your teeth into."
Think LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. You first read
about the half-bat/half-boy while standing in line at the grocery store
("Bat Child Found in Cave," June 23, 1992 Weekly World News). So did
writers Farley, Flemming and O'Keefe who were so inspired by these
sensationalist tabloid "reports," they crafted an irreverent theatrical
retelling. BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL ran Off Broadway for nine months in 2001
and won the triple crown of awards for "Best Off-Broadway Musical" --
Lucille Lortel Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Drama Desk Award. No
style of music -- pop, gospel, rock, country, rap, tango, showtunes -- was
safe from being skewered in a show that composer Laurence O'Keefe wrote
especially "for people who hate musicals." But beneath the catchy pop-rock
score, camp exterior and biting parody, BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL harbors a
heartfelt message of tolerance and acceptance of those who are different
than us. For more background information on this new musical go to
