As part of the Cleveland Public Library's Readers and Writers Series, Tony
Kushner will speak on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Louis
Stokes Wing Auditorium of the Main Library at Superior Avenue and East 6th.

One of the most important plays in American Theater, Kushner's Angels in
America, has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, two Drama
Desk awards, the New York Critics Circle Award and many others.  Angels in
America was selected by London's National Theatre as one of the ten best
plays of the 20th Century.  He is the author of a number of other plays and
Homebody/Kabul is among his current theatrical projects.

A special performance piece will open this program.
Working with a group of HIV-positive and HIV affected actors, the AIDS
Taskforce of Greater Cleveland has taken the brief test of "A Prayer"
(Kushner, 1994) and interwoven stories of living with HIV/AIDS in Cleveland.
As "living theatre", this simple performance piece confronts AIDS in its
vast, existential dimensions and through the small, intimate details of
everyday lives.
