Independent Pictures' 7th Annual Film Production Training Program

Cleveland, Ohio-Independent Pictures and Cleveland State University=20
present PICTURE THIS: The CSU Independent Film School 2003, free=20
apprenticeship-style film and Digital Video Production training.

WHO: Cleveland State University's Department of Communication,=20
Independent Pictures, plus local and national professionals and YOU.=20=20
You must be 16 years of age or older and have the desire to learn=20
16mm film production or Digital video production.

WHAT: The CSU President's Initiative Award has provided funding for=20
the start-up of this unique opportunity to learn from professionals=20
and educators to create a short film from script to screen. Film=20
production selected applicants (15 participants) will receive 3 weeks=20
training that culminates in shooting a fully crewed 16mm film. The=20
Digital video production selected applicants (10 participants) will=20
digitally document the whole process and will edit the film=20
and "author" (create) the film's DVD. PICTURE THIS made possible by=20
funds from the President's Initiative-a partnership of the Cleveland=20
Foundation, the George Gund Foundation and Cleveland State University.

WHERE: Cleveland State University's Department of Communication state-
of-the-art DVCOMM center located in the Music and Communication=20
Building, 2001 Euclid Ave., Downtown Cleveland.  (More information=20

WHEN: All applications are due by June 11th.  Selected interviews=20
will be conducted during the week of June 16th. Winners will be=20
announced during the week of June 23rd. Training starts July 8th and=20
classes will be conducted between the hours of 10 am =96 8pm. Daily=20
classes will be approximately 3 hours in length.  The actual film=20
shoot will be conducted the week of July 21st and will require=20
selected applicants to work the complete 12-hour shooting days. Three=20
shooting days are projected with one backup day. The Digital Video=20
production track will continue to work on the film in the=20
postproduction phase during the month of August. DVD production will=20
occur after the completion of the film, which is slated for release=20
in the spring of 2004. Digital video students will be scheduled=20
loosely throughout the year as the process dictates.

HOW: To be considered you must meet the application deadline and show=20
a strong dedication to the program. You must be able to attend most=20
classes and are required to work the 12-hour days during the film-
