DOBAMA Announces 2003-2004 Season
Four OHIO premiere productions, one U.S. premiere and one WORLD premiere!

Dobama Theatre at 1846 Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights will present six
mainstage productions for its 44th season, beginning September 12th, 2003
and running through May 16th, 2004.

September 12-October 3
Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Walter Grodzik Ohio
Premiere!
In this wacky comedy from off-Broadway, sixteen-year-old Kimberly is forced
to re-evaluate her life while juggling a hypochondriac mother, a drunken
father, an ex-convict aunt, her own mortality and the possibility of first
love.
"The comedy of the year. A haunting and hilarious new play, that is at once
a shrewd satire and a black comedy.” – Ben Brantley, The New York Times

October 17-November 9	The Domino Heart by Matthew Edison, directed by Joyce
Casey American Premiere!
The story of a trio of characters connected to each other by the miracle of
modern heart transplant surgery includes the wife of a man killed in a car
crash, a minister and a young advertising executive.

November 28-December 21	V-E Day by local playwright Faye Sholiton World
Premiere!
An old beau pays a surprise visit to 79-year-old widow Evelyn Bergfeld,
bringing her copies of the newsletters she circulated to Cleveland GIs
during World War II. His visit transports her back to a time when she
believed that everything was possible. V-E DAY is a love story filled with
humor, ambition, and regret.

January 16-February 8	Raised in Captivity by Nicky Silver, directed Russ
Borski Ohio Premiere!
We meet Sebastian Bliss and his twin sister, Bernadette Dixon, at their
mother's funeral, after she was killed by an errant showerhead. This is
just the beginning of an off-the-wall comedy, which is a ball of energy full
of crazy characters and twists and turns.

March 5-28	In the Heart of America by MacArthur Grant winner Naomi Wallace,
directed by Sonya Robbins Ohio Premiere!
Wallace’s rich, political drama blends haunting images of Vietnam and the
first Gulf War, raising timely questions about war, racism, class and
homophobia.

April 23-May 16 The Last Five Years by Tony Award winner Jason Robert
Brown, directed by Victoria Bussert and featuring Scott Plate and Carol
Dunne Ohio Premiere!
This two-person romantic musical, humorously exploring the modern
relationship, charts the journey of Jamie, a young Jewish novelist making
his way from unknown student to best-selling author; and Cathy, an aspiring
theatre star who moves from the Midwest to Manhattan.

Single ticket prices for 2003-2004 are $11-20. For subcription information,
