MORE INFO ABOUT The Lobby Hero:

New York writer Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero
follows the success of his Academy
Award-nominated film You Can Count on Me and his
acclaimed plays This Is Our Youth and The Waverly
Gallery. Lonergan also wrote the original screenplay
for Analyze This and most recently co-wrote Martin
Scorsese's Gangs of New York. The hit of the 2001
off-Broadway season, Lobby Hero was hailed by
critics as a heartfelt and endearing comedy.

Lonergan said of Lobby Hero: "I was interested in
somebody who's just trying to do their job and be a
human being at the same time in an environment
that makes it very difficult to be both. Also, it's about
the difficulty and complexity of dealing with serious
real-life issues, which police have to do all the time
while the rest of us sit back and either think ill or
highly of them and wonder what we would do if we
     were in their situation."

The naturalistic style of Kenneth Lonergan's plays is=20
deceptive. Lonergan is not just a realist, Lonergan's
work is radical and restrained. In Lobby Hero, there are
elements of Chekov, Pinter and even Mamet - yet Lonergan's
voice, style and themes are all his own. His play is elegant and=20
brilliant. There is nothing extraneous, nothing wasted,
     the comedy subtle but strong.
