Executive Director, Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund 

On June 26, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the 1986 Bowers v.
Hardwick ruling that banned sodomy in Georgia as well as the Texas
sodomy law. As Executive Director of Lambda Legal Defense and Education
Fund, the team that brought the lawsuit on behalf of the two Texas men
that resulted in this landmark decision, Mr. Cathcart initiated programs
such as the Foster Care Initiative which improves care of lesbian and
gay youth in foster care. He also leads a national coalition working to
win the freedom to marry through it's Marriage Project. 

Mr. Cathcart works to promote security, respect and fairness for lesbian
and gay youth, families and all people regardless of sexual orientation
or HIV status.
