SERIES CONTINUES
ON AUGUST 10


CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH- The free =B3Jazz in the Afternoon=B2 2003 summer series
continues at Cain Park with Grupo Hal Wyant on Sunday, August 10, 1-4pm, in
the Alma Theater.  Performing =B3Trans-African Rhythms=B2, the group features
Baba Adetobi, Jesse Dandy, Ralph Jackson, Baba Jubal, Jim Noel, Jerome
Suanders, and Hal Wyant.  The Wyant Band will continue the 2003 =B3Jazz in th=
e
Afternoon=B2 series which presents FREE jazz on Sundays from 1-4pm in Cain
Park=B9s intimate, 262-seat Alma Theater.  =B3Jazz in the Afternoon=B2 is
co-presented by Cain Park and the Northeast Ohio Jazz Society.

Afro-Cuban percussionist Hal Wyant is a native Clevelander and has develope=
d
his own unique method of playing the vibraphone with four mallets.  Grupo
Hal Wyant includes Baba Adetobi on bata, conga, shekere, timbales, and
cajone; Jesse Dandy on acoustic double bass; Ralph Jackson on drums and
timbales, Baba Jubal on conga, djembe, bamboo flute, and bata; Jerome
Saunders on piano and keyboards; and Hal Wyant on vibraphone, balofone,
marimba, bongos, maracas, and batas.

The final =B3Jazz in the Afternoon=B2 of the season is the Laura Varcho Band=B9s
=B3Hot Jazz in the Summer=B2 on August 17 featuring Kevin DiSimone on piano,
Laura Varcho on vocals, Wilbur Krebs on bass, and Paul Samuels on drums.

All =B3Jazz in the Afternoon=B2 performances are FREE with no reserved seating.
The U.S. Recording Companies furnish funds in part for the instrumental
music for the performances through the Music Performance Trust Funds, as
arranged by Local No. 4, American Federation of Musicians.

Cain Park 2003 season sponsors are the Inter-Continental Hotel, Motorcars,
Nextel Retail Stores, and the Ohio Arts Council.

Cain Park, a municipally owned and operated summer arts park and one of the
nation=B9s oldest, landmark outdoor theaters, is produced by the City of
Cleveland Heights and is located on the south side of Superior Road between
Lee and South Taylor Roads.  The Alma Theater is most easily accessible fro=
m
the Lee Road entrance to the park.  Parking for all Cain Park productions i=
