During the blackout Thursday night, which not only
ruined my rehearsal dinner but made for a very tough
evening all around (what with out of town family in
darkened, dry hotels with nothing to eat and nobody
with any gasoline), I got on the laptop and WKYC was
looking for stories on how the blackout was affecting
your life, so I emailed them and told them what a
disaster the evening had been and how I had no idea if
there'd be any cake or dancing or even guests at my
wedding, with no gas or power anywhere. They called
me Friday morning and asked me a bunch of questions,
and told me they wanted to send a local news crew to
my hair salon appt to do a story on the whole thing.
They called back a half hour later and said MSNBC is
picking up the story, they'll go to the salon with
you, we'll just run what they do, ok? I'm like oh
yeah. At this point I was ready for anything.

The news crew met me at the salon and interviewed, me
totally sans makeup, and informs me it's going to be
on the national news that night (Friday), as part of
the lead story on NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw!
So we taped local and national that night. The
national was just a brief bit but they did mention my
name, and then on the local show they showed several
minutes of the interview, and how I had been freaking
out on Thursday night, crying and yelling "Why, why,
why!" Appparently it also ran as a story on
msnbc.com. They did mention on the local news that we
will be shooting our film right after the wedding, so
that was cool. And the mall marketing director showed
up to pay for my hair appointment, which I thought was
really nice. I can't believe I appeared on national
TV with no makeup.

You can see the few seconds I'm on the national story

{There's also a brief mention on WKYC's site, but they
spelled my name wrong, of course.)

I'm pleased to report the wedding Friday night was
fully powered and totally great, and our small party
had a wonderful time. My theater friends and
colleagues, Nina Angeloff is now Nina McCollum, so
update your files :) I promise I'll get new headshots
soon!
