		CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE
BEGINS ITS 20TH SEASON WITH PANDEMONIUM!

CLEVELAND, OH -- Cleveland Public Theatre celebrates twenty years of
innovative performed work that addresses the issues of our time with a
special gala benefit evening on Saturday, September 13, 2003.  In keeping
with this tradition, CPT presents an adventurous evening of theatre, dance,
film, and visual art, featuring an array of artists. The action takes place
throughout the CPT complex in unexpected places, and attendees decide how
they want to experience Pandemonium!

Mayor Jane Campbell, David Bergholz, Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones, and
Hannah Morgenstern are Honorary Chairpersons.

Tickets are $100 ($75 tax deductible)

The evening also includes a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.  A great
selection of food from some of Cleveland’s top restaurants will be
available, as well as complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks (cash bar is
available for other alcoholic beverages).

One of the many highlights of the evening is “food art installations.”
Giant Eagle Supermarkets is generously donating a selection of food, to be
manipulated by a number of visual artists into unique table centerpieces.
After the gala benefit, the food will be donated to Cleveland Foodbank.

A dynamic array of performances will entertain at Pandemonium!  Theatre
performers for the evening will include CPT artists Denise Astorino, Nina
Domingue, Mike Geither, Kimo the Clown, Jill Levin, Rasheryl McCreary, Sarah
Morton, Michael Sepesy, Tony Sias, Florence Toledo, and Kathy Wasil.
Independent Pictures will present film and video selections, and Urban
Dialect magazine will host spoken word performances.

Dance performances by African Soul, Antaeus Dance, Cleveland Contemporary
Dance Theatre, Cleveland Repertory Project, InLet Dancetheater,
Morrisondance, and SAFMOD will be presented throughout the evening.

World famous composer Halim El Dabh, The Aphrodisiatics, and other local
musicians will provide musical entertainment.

Among the featured visual artists are Jeff Chiplis, Michelle Droll, Lee
Gibbs, Peggy Kwong Gordon, Tim Halloran, Nathaniel Parsons, Bill Radawec,
Kristin Bly Rodgers, Todd Schroeder, Susan Umbenhour, Roydon Watson, Holland
Williams, and Paul Yanko.  They will create and display works throughout the
CPT complex made especially for this special event.

Silent auction will feature a wide variety of artwork, dinner packages, gift
certificates, and a walk-on role in an upcoming CPT production.

Over 30 of Greater Cleveland’s top restaurants will contribute food and
drink, including Snicker’s, Lou & Eddy’s, Brennan’s Party Center, Fat Fish
Blue, Fulton Bar & Grille, Juniper Grille, Lola’s Bistro & Wine Bar, Max’s
Deli, Opa Catering, Players, Tavern Company, Union Station/Bounce, and West
End Tavern

Underwriters for Pandemonium! include City Architecture; Benesch,
Friedlander, Coplan, & Arnoff LLP; The Cleveland Plain Dealer; Fifth Third
Bank; First Federal Savings & Loan of Lakewood; and Marous Brothers
Construction.

Founder James Levin launched the first CPT production, A Midsummer Night’s
Dream, at the Cleveland Metropolitan Zoo in the summer of 1983.  After
twenty years, 290 major productions, fifty festivals, and a diverse array of
cutting edge productions, CPT has grown to become one of the region’s
largest producers of innovative performance.

Proceeds from Pandemonium! will support CPT’s artistic and education
programs.  The mission of Cleveland Public Theatre is to nurture, challenge,
educate, amaze, and empower artists and audiences in order to make Cleveland
a more creative and compassionate community.

Cleveland Public Theatre and its artistic and education programs are funded
in part by public funding from The National Endowment for the Arts and the
Ohio Arts Council as well as by The Cleveland Foundation, The George Gund
Foundation, The John P. Murphy Foundation, The Kulas Foundation and many
