Beck Center Youth Theater production of Into the Woods, jr., opening

Youth group workshops are scheduled for Saturday, November 8 and
Saturday, November 15. Take a back stage tour, make a special craft and
meet the cast! The fee is only $10 and includes admission to the show!
Advance reservations for the workshops, which begin at 6:00 p.m. each
Saturday, are required.

More Information:
The play shows a cockeyed view of everyone's favorite fairy tale
characters in this hysterical take on the stories from the Brothers
Grimm. Characters from many different tales are woven together as the
Baker and his wife struggle to create a magical potion to break the
witch's spell! "It is a great way to get young people to think about
the stories we all grew up with," according to Meg Wherry, Director of
Youth Theater at the Beck Center and also the director for this
production. "It is a way for us to look at the ethical issues raised by
fairy tales and have fun while we do it!"
Into the Woods was Stephen Sondheim's second musical with James
Lapine. It opened on Broadway in November 1987 and ran for 764
performances. The Beck Center's junior version, adapted from the first
act of the full length musical, will run from November 7th through
November 16th.
More than 200 Beck Center theater students auditioned for this
production. The chosen cast of 21 has been in rehearsal for the past
two months working hard, while having fun, bringing this musical story
to life for this Beck Center Main Stage production.
