HUDSON PLAYERS READY COMEDY THRILLER “Catch Me If You Can” For Opening

Honeymooning is the Catskills must have seemed like a great idea to Daniel
Corban, but that was before his new wife disappeared. Reporting her missing
to the police, he’s frustrated by the efforts of the wise cracking police
detective assigned to his case. That is until the local pastor shows up with
Corban’s missing wife. Or is she? Daniel Corban says no, but everyone else
says yes.

This is where all the fun and intrigue start in the classic play “Catch Me
If You Can” being readied by the Hudson Players for its November 7 opening
night.

“It’s an amazing show,” says Gary Maher, the play’s director. “Just when you
think you have it all figured out, it gets you guessing again. Not only
that, but it throws in plenty of humor which makes the suspense of the
mystery even more fun. Top it all off with the remarkable cast we’ve
assembled and it promises and evening of not to be missed theater.”

The show has been in rehearsals since early September and features a 1960’s
Catskills summer home as it’s setting. Authentically designed by Tim Steiner
and Sally Marquinez, the set promises to quickly draw the audience into the
mood of the show.

“While it shares the same name as the recent movie, the comparisons end
there. Of course they are both great entertainment. Really though, the play
has been around a lot longer. It was adapted from a French version by Jack
Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, the same pair who wrote the book for the
musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

True to Hudson Players tradition, opening night audiences will be invited to
a reception after the show featuring a chance to mingle with the cast and
crew and ask those sure to be present questions.

“It’s become a very popular way to celebrate opening night,” said Trish
Davis, the shows producer. “Also with a mystery with as many twists and this
one has, I’m sure they’ll be plenty to talk about afterwards. Folks should
call early for reservations where details of the reception will be
available.”

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m.; November 7, 8,
14, 15, 21 and 22 at the Barlow Community Center on Oviatt St in Hudson. For
reservations and/or information call 330-655-8522. Advance sale tickets can
also be purchased at The Learned Owl Bookstore in Hudson.

The Hudson Players are an award-winning nonprofit community theater. They
are members of the Ohio Community Theatre Association, the American
Association of Community Theatre and The Hudson Chamber of Commerce. The
next show on their schedule is Fiddler On The Roof, with auditions being
held November 9 $ 10, and performances Feb. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 and
March 5 & 6.
