Auditions will be held November 16 and 17 at 7pm at the Kent Stage.  175 E.=20
Main Street in Kent.=20

Production dates are: December 19, 20 and 21st. 2003.

Those auditioning should come prepared to read from the script.  We are=20
looking for the following character types.

Cast of Characters
(4 M, 5 W, 2 Girls)
J. D. HUGHES:  A Slightly bitter old man, around 60, who spends most of his=20
time on business and little else.

JERRY:  J. D. as a young man, 21, playful but a bit skeptical.
=20
NICK:  A whimsical old store owner, who delights in his family, in the=20
season, and in helping others.
=20
LAURA:  (Adult.)  A woman in her late 50=E2=80=99s who doesn't complain but=20=
is=20
nevertheless a bit sad.
=20
LAURA:  (Young.)  A friend of the family, around 18, who's content with her=20
life but loves Nick's family.

ANGELINA:  Nick's wife of many years, slightly overbearing but with a kindly=
=20
heart and giving nature.

SANDRA:  Nick's oldest daughter, the same age as Laura, a wisecracking, fun=20
loving person.

KIM:  J. D.=E2=80=99s daughter, around 30, who worries about her father and=20=
his lack=20
of spirit.

OFFICER BLAIR:  A cop in his 50=E2=80=99s who's just doing his job so others=
 might=20
spend time at home.

MARY:  Nick and Angelina=E2=80=99s 8-year-old daughter who just wants to hel=
p.

JENNY:  Nick and Angelina=E2=80=99s 7-year-old daughter who says, =E2=80=9CM=
e, too.=E2=80=9D

Synopsis

J. D. Hughes has been looking high and low for a special Christmas gift for=20
his grandson.  Finally, as a last resort, he wanders into Nick's Emporium, a=
n=20
old-fashioned store chock full of all sorts of gifts and knickknacks.  He ha=
s a=20
hard time explaining to Nick what he's looking for, but finds himself fallin=
g=20
under the old storekeeper's spell.  Just when Hughes is about to buy=20
something he runs to the street to chase kids away from his car.  When he re=
turns, he=20
finds the store suddenly dark and quiet.  A policeman then shows up to run h=
im=20
off because, =E2=80=9CThis place ain=E2=80=99t been open in forty years!=E2=
=80=9D  Hughes finds a=20
way back, not only to the store but to a time years ago when he was a younge=
r=20
man.  This Yuletide fantasy is full of holiday spirit and humor and makes us=
 all=20
wish we could find a =E2=80=9CNick's Emporium.=E2=80=9D
