Dear NEOhiopal Subscriber:

Cesear's Forum is pleased to announce it will be presenting Caryl Churchill's

BLUE HEART, a double bill of two interrelated plays, 'Hearts Desire' and
'Blue Kettle,'
at Kennedy's Down Under, Playhouse Square Center, Cleveland, Ohio. The plays
are
united by their common themes of disruption and loss. Conversely, they are
also very
funny, sharing an anarchic wit, and an almost joyous flouting of theatrical
conventions.
Chronology, characterization and even, occasionally, coherence are chopped
and
twisted providing an unexpected form of poignancy and heady pleasure.

In the first play, 'Hearts Desire,' a family is waiting for the return of a
long absent
daughter. As they wait, the action repeats, allowing improbable secrets and
long-held
hostilities to be revealed through a series of 'what-if?' scenarios. In
'Blue Kettle,'
random words - 'kettle' for instance - insinuate themselves repeatedly into
the dialogue,
highlighting the gulf between words and feelings, as a young man attempts to
convince
several older women they're his birth mother.

Caryl Churchill's plays can almost always be counted on to take your head for
a spin,
and though not easy to categorize, they continue to challenge the assumption
that theatre
is about linear storytelling. Her play-writing career began in radio in the
1960's,
encompasses numerous acclaimed stage plays (among them: CLOUD NINE, TOP
GIRLS, SERIOUS MONEY), and from the 1990's, has moved more and more into a
mixed theatre of text, dance, and music. She was Resident Dramatist at the
Royal Court
(1974-5) and spent much of the 1970's and 1980's working with the theatre
groups 'Joint
Stock' and 'Monstrous Regiment.' BLUE HEART was developed for the 1997
Edinburgh Fringe in collaboration with a small British touring company, 'Out
of Joint.'
The production then moved to London's Royal Court, followed by an
international tour.

Cesear's Forum, a minimalist theatre company, produces only a few times a
year, but is
dedicated to production excellence through unique, timely and often unknown
plays.
The cast includes company regulars Glenn and Jean Colerider, Lee Mackey, with
Dana
Snyder, Victor D'Altorio, Marci Paolucci and Mary Alice Beck. Performing at
Kennedy's Down Under (literally under the Ohio Theatre), an intimate venue
with close
proximity to the stage action (no seat is more than 35 feet from the stage)
at the
Playhouse Square Center, ticket prices are reasonably priced at just $15.

BLUE HEART; November 14th through December 13th, Kennedy's Down Under,
Playhouse Square Center, 1501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Friday & Saturdays at
8pm.
Single tickets at $15.00. Call Tickets.com at (216) 241-6000. Web site:
