Hi Everyone !

Sorry for the large postings today, one of which had an attachment and one=20
which had a graphic  ...

I want clarify again the policy on attachments and graphics.

Attachments and graphics are not permitted in NEohioPAL postings.=20

I review all postings and reject the postings with attachments and graphics.=
=20
When I reject them I always send instructions how to post (reprinted below)=20
and ask the poster to resubmit with corrections. I have been able to screen=20=
out=20
over 95% of the postings with graphics.=20

The reason some postings are approved with graphics is by accident. The=20
system only shows me a 'request for posting' in html form and only a partial=
=20
section of the body of the e-mail. Sometimes I simply can't tell there is an=
=20
attachment or graphics. An unfortunate flaw in the system, but I'll continu=
e to do=20
my best to make posters stick to the policies.

Regards,

Fred Sternfeld

=20
PS --  Here is a re-print of what I send to people when I reject a posting=20
----------------------------------------------------------------------------=
--
---------------

Here are complete instructions how to post. Please read them, adjust your=20
posting and then resubmit...

1) To post a message to the NE Ohio Performing Arts list, please send your=
=20
message to this e-mail address: NEohioPAL at lists.fredsternfeld.com

2) Don't send a private message to me in the body of the posting as=20
everything that you send will get posted to the list. The "mailman" system d=
oes not=20
allow me to edit your message or your subject line. The mere act of sending=
=20
your message to the above address will tell me you want to post it to the li=
st.

3) The subscribers of NEohioPAL receive around 40-80 postings per week.=20
Because of this they are very selective about which postings they actually o=
pen=20
and read and which they delete. From the feedback I've gotten, messages mus=
t=20
have very specific information in the subject line to have a reasonable chan=
ce=20
of actually being open and read. At the minimum, the subject line should=20
contain the producing organization and event. Here are some examples of good=
 subject=20
lines=E2=80=A6

=C2=B7 1/2 price tickets to neohiopal - Cuyahoga Players present Sondheim'=
s=20
"Pacific Overtures"
=C2=B7 Auditions for "Medea" at Lake Erie Theatre
=C2=B7 Euclid Theatre spring drama classes for ages 7-14
=C2=B7 Plain Dealer Review of Bay Village Player's "The Crucible"

Also, if you are a private citizen expressing an opinion about a production=20
you should prefix your subject line with "Personal Review of=E2=80=A6" or "P=
ersonal=20
Opinion of=E2=80=A6" If you are a professional critic (paid by the media to=
 review) you=20
should prefix your reviews with "Review of=E2=80=A6"

4) Put your message in plain text or html in the body of the e-mail. Basic=20
formatting is okay (fonts, point size, color, centering, etc.) =20

5) NO ATTACHMENTS AND NO GRAPHICS!!! Some people have their mailboxes set=20
to not accept attachments and I am wary of accidentally forwarding a virus.=20=
=20
Also, the subscribers do not want their mailboxes stuffed with large files.=20=
 If=20
you want to have people view pictures and graphics then include a link to a=20
website. =20

6)  Carefully edit and spell-check your message.=20

7) Give ALL the basics: Who, What, When, Where and Contact information.

8) If people reply to your message, it will go directly back to you. The=20
e-mail address you originate it from will appear in the reply-to field in th=
e=20
header.=20
