The next generation of punk has arrived.

Dobama Theatre’s Night Kitchen opens its ninth season loud and proud with
Loud Americans: A Punk Saga, written by Christopher Johnston, Greg Vovos and
David Bell.

The three remaining members of the Cleveland band The Mutilators are close,
but not without their conflicts. Toby is not a very good drummer. Lead
singer Devon is a dynamic performer but a damaged individual, for whom punk
music in its most raw form is everything – anything else is “selling out.”
Jimmy, the bass player and a good one at that, wants to do more, but he’s
not sure what that means.

When newcomer Holly arrives to replace a guitarist who just quit the band,
she becomes the catalyst for change. Holly wants to move up to the next
level, to record CDs and go national. The Mutilators have done well, but
they can’t seem to make it big – and that’s fine with Devon. Holly tries to
get close to Devon, the leader of the band, but she soon realizes she and
Jimmy are on the same wavelength, and the fireworks begin.

When the group finally gets its big break with a nationally renowned music
promoter, opening for a national act at the Agora, will they make it?
Maybe; maybe not. In the process, they will do what punk bands do best:
make noise and destroy stuff.

Featuring Brian Douglas, Christa Heidrich, Jeff Marsey and Duane Rutter
