Hello NEOhioPal Listers!

A couple of months ago I sent a post to this list inquiring about artists who perform within a religious, cultural or ethnic context. I received many responses. Thanks to all who did.

I mentioned that I was doing some preliminary research regarding an exciting potential project. The project is coming to fruition. Actually, I guess this is really just the beginning of what I hope to be a very long and productive path. I hope that this endeavor will enrich the lives of performing artists, strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods and communities, and bring well deserved recognition to arts and social justice organizations.

I am proud to announce the formation of the nonprofit corporation Building Bridges (Within and Between Communities Through Music and the Arts). We hope to partner with many arts, religious, cultural and social justice organizations in the coming months and years. As a corporation we are still in our infancy, filing the proper paperwork with the state and such, but our passion and vision is strong and clear.

Building Bridges has a kick-off event scheduled on January 18th, more details of which will be in a forthcoming post. This will be a concert featuring an African American Gospel singing family, a female Jewish cantor, Reggae musicians, and folk musicians performing solo and collaboratively. We are trying to raise enough money to cover the fee for filing to become a 501(c)(3) -- nonprofit -- organization. Though we have not yet been granted nonprofit status, all donations at this event will be tax deductible.

I look forward to working with many of you in the future and hope to see you on the 18th.

Heart to Heart, Hand to Hand, and From Strength to Strength,

Noah Budin
