REEFER MADNESS   by  Kevin Murphy    and
                                                        Dan Studney
Won the 1999 LA Ovation Award for Best Musical and
subsequently played Off B'way in 2001 to great notices.
A film is now in the works. Beck Center is the first theatre
in the nation to produce this piece following its original
productions. More info found at www.reefermadness.org

The Beck production opens in the Studio Theatre on May 21st
and closes June 20th. Reh. will begin in early April. There will
be 12-16 roles available. The majority of the roles are ages
16 to 25. There are several roles for Men between 25 and 45
(Incl. a rock-and-roll singing Jesus!) and for Women 25 to 40.             
ALL roles are singing roles. It is anticpated that 2 AEA contracts         will 
be offered. 

MISS SAIGON   by    Alain Boublil        and
                                            Claude-Michel Schonberg  

Is one of the most heralded musicals of its generation. By the    
authors of "Les Miserables", it takes its source material from
"Madama Butterfly" and thrusts us into the chaos of the Vietnam
War. Beck's production will the local premiere!!!   

The Beck production will open on the Karl Mackey Mainstage
on July 16th and play through August 15th. Reh. will begin
approximately June 6th. 

Miss Saigon   features a large cast, including 4 principal Men              
and 2 principal Women, as well as one young boy (or girl).                  
The general age range is 18 to 45.      

A general note on the ethnicity of the show and how it pertains
to casting. Many roles in this show are Vietnamese in orientation.
It is certainly NOT anticipated that all these roles will be filled by
actors from the Asian community. For these roles the staff will be
looking in most cases for actors of non-caucasion ethnicity. Beck
will eventually cast this production based on the ethnicity of the
available NE Ohio talent pool. 

***The role of The Engineer has been cast (AEA Actor Paul 
Floriano). All other roles are open. It is anticipated that one
additional AEA contract will be offered.

General Audition Preperation:
Please bring one musical selection of your choice not to exceed
2 minutes in length. Please bring sheet music in your key. An
accompianist will be provided. No a capella auditions please!
Pre-recorded piano accompaniment is acceptable, but please
bring your own tape player. Also, please come dressed to move.
All auditioning actors should bring a calander with them, as you
will be asked to be specific in terms of conficts for reh. purposes.
