TrueNorth Cultural Arts

PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT RICK FORTNEY AT 440-930-7411.

TrueNorth Chorale will be attending the 11th annual Classics West =
Oratorio Course, 2004 at Portsmouth Roman Catholic Cathedral in England =
this July. Portsmouth is a major naval base on the English Channel next =
to a sea side resort called Southsea. It is historically very important =
as it docks HMS Victory there, the ship in which Nelson fought the =
Trafalgar battle in 1805, and the Mary Rose, a warship from the reign of =
Henry VIII (c1530) which was brought up from the bottom of the sea. Also =
nearby are the beautiful ancient New Forest and an important island, the =
Isle of Wight.

While in Portsmouth, the Chorale will be staying at a Bed & Breakfast =
and participate in a choral workshop from 9:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. daily, =
working with faculty members from the Royal Academy of Music, London, in =
vocal training, techniques, and language (Russian). The Chorale will be =
preparing throughout the week for a closing concert weekend performing =
the All-Night Vigil (Vespers) Op. 37 by Rachmaninoff, and other works by =
Arvo Part, John Tavener, and Ernest Moeran. The TrueNorth Chorale will =
be performing 3 concerts throughout the week in addition to the closing =
concert featuring the Rachmaninoff.

It is not too late to join the TrueNorth Chorale for their Winter=20
Concert, March 6th, featuring a variety of double chorus repertoire, =
joined by a guest choir from Michigan, the New Century Chorale. The =
Chorale will also be singing "Sing for the Cure", raising funds for the =
American Cancer Society on 5/22, and a Patriotic Concert on 6/19. The =
Chorale is directed by Founder/Director Rick Fortney and rehearses on =
Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at their Studio, 33483 Lake Road, =
ArtsTown Plaza, in Avon Lake. Musicians are always encouraged to join =
the Chorale, though the England roster needs to finalize in the next =
month, so those interested in traveling to England with TrueNorth need =
to respond quickly. For further information please call 930-7411.=20
