Canton, Ohio February 6, 2004-Illstyle & Peace Productions will present Same Spirit Different Movement on The Players Guild Theatre Main Stage, March 19th & 20. <o:p></o:p>
This original evening length dance piece was created and choreographed by Brandon Albright, also known as “Peace,” with certain segments choreographed by the Akron, Ohio based Illstyle Rockers.  Same Spirit Different Movement is a collaborative effort that brings various dance styles together in spirit while it also defines each distinctive movement.        This will not be the typical night in the theatre.  Performers from both <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>Akron</st1:place></st1:City> and <st1:City><st1:place>Philadelphia</st1:place></st1:City> will share the stage for two nights of dancing which will include Tap Dancing, Popping, Locking, Breaking, and various other styles.  Vocal percussion, turntablism, and the spoken word of the emcee are also highlighted in the production.  Expect to see fabulous feats of spinning on the limbs and contorted body postures done with rhythm, speed, control and precision in both a choreographed and improvised manner.  <o:p></o:p>
Illstyle & Peace Productions was recently selected to perform Same Spirit Different Movement as part of Dance Theater Workshop’s Fresh Tracks production to be held in <st1:City><st1:place>New York City</st1:place></st1:City> later this year.  Illstyle & Peace Productions considers this a big leap for their company because Fresh Tracks provides an important forum for the introduction of emerging choreographers and performance artists. Selected through auditions by a panel of artists, producers and DTW staff, Fresh Tracks participants represent an up-and-coming generation of professional artists of unusual potential and striking imagination. Over its history, the series has helped identify and launch such well known choreographers as Ann Carlson, Bebe Miller, Molissa Fenley, Bill T. Jones, David Parsons, Doug Elkins, Nina Wiener, Donald Byrd and <st1:country-region><st1:place>Belgium</st1:place></st1:country-region>'s Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, among many others.<o:p></o:p>
Cast members Forrest Webb and Dre Borders also teach company dance classes through the Players Guild Theatre every Saturday from <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="12">noon</st1:time> – <st1:time Minute="30" Hour="13">1:30pm</st1:time>.  <o:p></o:p>
Performances of Same Spirit Different Movement will be March 19th and 20th at <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="20">8 p.m.</st1:time>  Tickets are $10.
