This program will explore differing perspectives about the pressures to
compromise one's ethnic/racial traditions or culture in order to achieve
corporate success.  The story of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriett Beecher
Stowe provides a starting point for a discussion about how modern
corporate cultures may encourage individuals to modify aspects of their
personal identities and beliefs in order to conform to norms of the
majority corporate culture.  

Following a short excerpt from the contemporary play adaptation of the
story performed by actors from Cleveland Public Theatre's current
production of Uncle Tom's Cabin, there will be a moderated discussion of
the topic.  The purpose of the program is to enhance understanding about
the wide range of views that exist regarding the relationship, if any,
between conformity and success.  In addition, the program helps to
increase awareness of how organizations, consciously or unconsciously,
respond to the differences we bring to our workplaces.

Tickets: $13 members       $18 non-members        Table (seating 8) $200
