OBERLIN, OHIO?The Oberlin Baroque Orchestra, an ensemble of 22 students
from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music performing on period instruments,
will present a free concert on Sunday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul's
Episcopal Church, located at 2747 Fairmount Boulevard in Cleveland Heights.

Faculty members from Oberlin's nationally renowned historical performance
program have trained these young baroque specialists, who will be
performing under the baton of Oberlin alumna Jeannettte Sorrell, founder
and conductor of Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra.

The program features Telemann's Concerto Polonois in G and selections from
the Don Quixote Suite, J.S. Bach's third and fourth Brandenburg Concerti,
and Sorrell's own arrangement of Vivaldi's La Follia.

Sorrell and the Oberlin Baroque Orchestra will present the same program,
which is free and open to the public, at Oberlin College's Fairchild Chapel 
on Saturday, March 6, at 8 p.m. Fairchild Chapel is located in Bosworth
Hall at 50 West Lorain Street.

The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865 and situated within the

Oberlin Baroque Ensemble, composed of historical performance faculty
members Michael Lynn, Marilyn McDonald, Catharina Meints, and Lisa Goode
Crawford, was one of the first groups in the United States to specialize in 
the performance of early music on historical instruments. Through its
teaching and its critically acclaimed concerts and recordings the ensemble
has influenced a generation of young performers.
