Cinematography and Lighting Workshop - Crafting with
Lens and Light
If you want to create a Hollywood look for your

workshop is hands-on and will demystify the art of
lighting and camera use to create the spectacular
cinematic image seen in movie theaters.

Topics Covered 
On day one, learn what the lens REALLY does and how it
is your single, most powerful tool to create a
film-like image.  Learn specific techniques for camera
placement and composition, using white balance, focus
and gain to achieve professional results.  Learn how
to create and control the depth of field and add depth
or flatten the image, speed time, accentuate movement,
and much more, all with the camera lens! Learn how to
use a camera dolly and other equipment and techniques
to “pull” the audience into your story!

Day two will focus on basic and advanced lighting
techniques.  After an introduction to Hollywood
lighting equipment, prepare to be blown away with
powerful lighting tips and tricks to make your
production a jaw-dropping experience.  In this hand-on
demonstration class, you will learn three-point
lighting, camera exposure, how to use gels and
diffusion, shoot outdoors in natural light, create a
night scene, work with volumetric light and use
available light fixtures for professional results.

Jason J. Tomaric
Jason J. Tomaric is a national-award winning director
and filmmaker whose projects were honored with seven
Telly Awards last year alone.  He has directed several
feature and short films, including “One” which was
screened by Sony at the Sundance Film Festival as well
as several television commercials and productions for
clients such as McDonald’s and Microsoft.  Jason has
taught dozens of workshops on the art of filmmaking
across the country and currently resides in Los
Angeles.
