Cleveland Shakespeare Festival Auditions

Romeo and Juliet (directed by Juliette Regnier)=20

When: Monday and Tuesday, April 12th and 13th, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Cleveland Play House rehearsal halls (rear entrance - take =
elevator to 2nd floor)
Callbacks: Monday April 19th
Headshots/R=E9sum=E9s: two copies each
Preparation: (a) two contrasting 1-minute Elizabethan monologues, one of =
which should be from one of the two plays in question; (b) be ready to =
read from script.
Rehearsals: mid-May to July 8th
Production dates: Rotating rep from July 9th to August 15th
Alas, we can offer no Equity contracts this season.

To schedule an appointment for a half-hour slot, in which you may =
audition for both plays, call 877 280 1646 and leave a message with your =
name and telephone number, and preferred time. Your call will be =
returned, as long as you have spoken clearly enough to be understood. =
(Obviously we cannot honor fifty requests for the same time slot; we'll =
negotiate.)
You may also make application by email, which may even get you faster =

The directors plan to read from the following scenes, at least. By =
week's end, links to the scenes should appear at our website, =

In DIRTY STORY, aspiring novelist Wanda asks successful writer
Brutus for advice and gets more than she bargains for. They move
in together and begin a very strange relationship. During a dispute
over the apartment, Wanda's cowboy ex-boyfriend, Frank, and his
British sidekick, Watson, burst on the scene. Wanda declares "Call
me Israel!" and the story becomes a political allegory. Frank and
Watson resemble Bush and Blair, and the dispute looks like the Mid-
East conflict. Can Frank and Watson resolve the conflict? Do they
have any business doing so?

In CAMPING WITH HENRY & TOM, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison,
and then president Warren G. Harding escape camping seclusion together . =

A sudden near collision with a deer results in 3 volatile personalities
colliding in humorous banter, revealing much of the true nature of these
pivotal early 20th century people. =20
=20
The Mapleleaf Theater is a non-profit, semi-professional theater
based during the summer at Harpersfield Vineyard near Madison OH.
The performances are in an intimate cafe style setting.
It's the only theater at a working vineyard in the United States.
In its 22nd season, the theater specializes in off-beat,
unusual, and new works by American playwrights.
