            Lakewood, Ohio - The Beck Center's Youth Theater presents
Roald Dahl's delightful story of James and the Giant Peach, opening
Friday, April 30, through May 9, 2004.

            Two separate casts, directed by Russel Stich, bring to life
a story that reveals the wickedness of some and the goodness of others.
James' happy life at the English seaside is rudely ended when his
parents are killed and he is forced to live with his two horrid aunts.
After daringly saving the life of a spider, he comes into possession of
magic boiled crocodile tongues, from which an enormous peach starts to
grow in the garden.  Venturing inside the peach, James meets a number of
new friends, including a ladybug and a centipede who help him with his
life long dream of traveling to New York.

            Russel Stich, the director for this production of James and
the Giant Peach is a founding member of Cabaret Dada Improvisational
Theater and played the Best Man in the Cleveland production of Tony 'n
Tina's Wedding.  He is also a member of The Beck Center's educational
staff.  "Working with children isn't that different from working with
adults, but the rewards seem much more gratifying. Some of these kids
are more dedicated (and have better resumes) than many adults I've
worked with," says Stich.  "We've had a lot of fun during the rehearsal
process of this show, and that fun translates to the stage for the
performance!" Showtimes for the Beck Center's presentation of James and
the Giant Peach are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at
3:00 p.m.  Four weekday matinees are scheduled for Tuesdays, May 4th and
May 11th at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.   Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for
students with discounted rates available for groups.=20
