WESTERN RESERVE YOUTH THEATRE
2004 SUMMER YOUTH THEATRE PROGRAM
PRODUCING HONK! AND PIPPIN

May 6, 2004

Western Reserve Youth Theatre offers an intensive
performance-based program, designed to enrich and
enhance the artistic abilities of the young actor. 
Our program is designed to offer young people a
complete and exciting hands-on training in the
dramatic arts field, integrating elements of acting,
voice work, movement, and technical theatre.  The
summer program is divided into two sessions: the
JUNIOR PROGRAM, for students entering grades four
through eight, and the HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM, for
students entering grades 9 through 12. Each program
then produces its own fully staged production.


WRYT SESSION ONE:

JUNIOR PROGRAM (for grades four through eight)
June 21 – August 21, 2004
* Meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays from 10
a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
* Registration: June 5 at 10 a.m. (Mandatory for
parents and enrolling students)
* No experience necessary. 

Production: HONK!
* Music by George Stiles, Book and Lyrics by Anthony
Drewe 
* A contemporary comical adaptation of Hans Christian
Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling."
* Directed and Choreographed by Maura McCafferty
* Musical Direction by Tricia Pruchnicki


WRYT SESSION TWO: 

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM (for grades nine through twelve)
July 19 – August 28, 2004
* Mon., Wed., Fri. from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Tues., Thurs.
from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
* Registration: July 10 at 10 a.m. (Mandatory for
parents and enrolling students)

Production: PIPPIN
* Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Book by Roger
O. Hirson
* A tongue-in-cheek story of French Prince Pippin, son
of the Eighth-Century King Charlemagne, on quest to
find his true calling in life. 
* Directed by Kristen M. Nolan
* Musical Direction by Tricia Pruchnicki
* Choreographed by Nathan A. Lilly

** AUDITIONS for PIPPIN will follow registration.
** Please prepare 16 bars of a song (verse & chorus).
Selections may be from the show, or from any rock
musical. No a capella or taped music.  A pianist will
be provided, so please bring sheet music.  Dress for
heavy movement.  (PIPPIN contains some mature subject
matter.)


REGISTRATION PROCESS:
* Please attend your required registration date.
* Program fee is $150.00 for first child, $130.00 for
each additional child.
* Required $50.00 deposit, per family, refundable;
(details at registration.

The Western Reserve Playhouse is located at the
intersection of Revere and Everett Roads off Route 176
(Wheatley Road) in Bath Township.  It is easily
accessible from most Northeast Ohio communities and is
conveniently located off of I-77 and the Ohio
Turnpike.
