AUDITION NOTICE
for
“Losing Sight”

Losing Sight is a short dramatic film (10-12min.) that will be shooting in
the Dayton, Ohio area at the end of May. The film focuses on a husband and
wife whose relationship has lost its way and are forced to deal with the
death of their only child. The story begins hours before their sons fatal
car crash and concludes on the evening of the funeral. Through the course of
these days the two are forced to break down the emotional walls they’ve
errected in an effort to find the strength to endure this tragedy.

No preparation is necessary. Headshots and resumes are welcome.

Character Descriptions

<sum> DREW: (Caucasian, in his early to mid 40s) He is a farmhand who, at
one time, might have had the potential to find success. He works hard to
support his family but never seems to come out ahead. He loves his wife,
EVE, but is too blind to see how cold their relationship has become. The
loss of his son makes him question the value of his life’s work and come to
terms with his fractured marriage.

<sum> EVE: (Caucasian, in her early to mid 40s) She has been married to Drew
for over twenty years but has been aware, for sometime, of the problems in
their marriage. Time has taken its toll on her and her tired appearance is
the result of years of physical and emotional hardship. She comes from a
well-to-do family which disapproves of her low income existance. The
coldness of her marriage nearly drove Eve to leave her husband at one time,
but obligation to their son and his happiness convinced her to remain. The
subsequent death of her child has forced Eve to reevaluate her priorities
and her marriage.

<sum> DREW’S FATHER: (Caucasian, mid to late 60s) He is the man Drew is
destined to become. Strong, quiet, and emotionally cold. He loves and
respects his son but expects him to make his own choices, even in the face
of tragedy. He smokes often and has a wooden appearance, the product of a
lifetime of physical labor.
