Mr. Lewis Rules, Stories from the
Juvenile Justice System

UPDATE

The performance of "Mr. Lewis Rules" originally scheduled for
Monday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Weathervane Playhouse,
has been cancelled due to a touring schedule conflict.

(May 20, 2004)  Myron Lewis will repeat his solo performance play, "Mr. Lewi=
s=20
Rules: Stories from the Juvenile Justice System" over the next several weeks=
=20
at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, Portage Path Elementary School and Akron=20
Children's Hospital. These performances are being presented in conjunction w=
ith the=20
play's spring tour.  The piece was commissioned by Akron's Weathervane=20
Playhouse and funded by a generous grant from the John A. McAlonan Fund of t=
he Akron=20
Community Foundation.  Director Jacqi Loewy originally conceived the project=
=20
when she worked with Myron during the run of Weathervane's award winning 500=
th=20
production of The Laramie Project.  =20



"Mr. Lewis Rules =E2=80=A6" was originally presented in February on the main=
stage of=20
the Playhouse.  Touring performances this spring will include:  The Child an=
d=20
Family Fellowship Exchange (Akron City Hospital), The Rock and Roll Hall of=20
Fame in Cleveland, the Homeless Children Conference, Columbus, OH, for fourt=
h=20
and fifth graders and faculty at Portage Path Elementary School and The Wome=
n's=20
Boards of Akron General. =20

The play is based on stories told by Mr. Lewis, an Akron native who is now a=
n=20
adolescent chemical dependency counselor for the Akron Health Department. =20
Myron attended Buchtel High School where he was an outstanding football play=
er. =20
He received an athletic scholarship to Morehouse College in Atlanta where he=
=20
received his college degree.  He made his stage debut at Weathervane and has=
=20
appeared in three productions -- "The Piano Lesson," "Seven Guitars" and "Th=
e=20
Laramie Project."   In 1999 he was cast by the Detroit Theater for the Drama=
tic=20
Arts in a play that toured South Africa.  Lewis also owns a small business=20
named "Direct Drama" that focuses upon conflict resolution through the mediu=
m of=20
drama.  He is actively involved at St. Phillips Episcopal Church and is=20
interested in Aikido-a martial arts program.

Tickets for the public performances are only $10 and can be reserved by=20
calling the Weathervane Ticket office at (330) 836-2626 Tue-Friday 10 am- 5:=
30 PM. =20
