Dear NEOhioPal-ers:
 
I have a new position and am looking for entertainers and programs. 
 
I am the Assistant Director of Activities at Stone Gardens at Menorah Park, an assisted living facility in Beachwood. Menorah Park is a Jewish agency and most of our residents are Jewish. Programs can be Jewishly themed or secular. We have a senior citizen population.
 
They love music from their Golden Era -- Gershwin, Berlin, Porter, Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Sammy Kay, etc., and show tunes.
 
They love stories and humor -- appropriate for their generation, nothing "blue", but they love "raunchy" and "racy" stuff, double entendre, suggestive and the like. 
 
Even though there is a fair amount of varying levels of dementia, memory loss and hearing loss, they are a high level, sophisticated audience of seniors. They appreciate quality entertainment and it can be very rewarding for the performer(s).
 
I'm looking for some of the "tried and true" programs, but I would like to expand our horizons and repertoire here at Stone Gardens. Anything goes. I'd love to hear all of your ideas. Think "outside of the box." A Shakespeare program, scenes, readings? Got a vaudeville act? Impersonate Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, Clark Gable, Mae West or other stars of the era? Are you a story teller? Magician? Mime? Something I haven't thought of...?
 
You can also offer an interactive workshops. Be creative.
 
We have a small budget. Small. We LOVE volunteers -- It's a miztvah (commonly translated as "good deed" but is really much deeper) -- but we can pay. We can genreally pay between $50 and $150 depending on the size and quality of your program and other budgetary considerations.
