Everyone,

This is David White.  Sorry to use the NeoPAL list for this, but I figured it was the easiest way to get in touch with people in the NE Ohio performing arts community who know me through Tree City/Kent Stage Players, Prodigal Theatre Group, Weathervane, University of Akron, etc., in the Akron/Kent area.

I am moving to Texas.  I have been offered a job in the classics dept. at Baylor University in Waco.  I will be teaching Latin and other classics courses, and will occasionally have the chance to teach ancient Greek as well.  I will also most likely be doing some work in the library.

I have enjoyed becoming involved in the performing arts community in the Akron/Kent area over the past seven years, and I have enjoyed working with and getting to know so many talented and terrific people.  I will miss all of you, and will make it a point to come see your shows, if I can, at times when I am back in Akron visiting my family.

Waco does seem to have a community theatre, so I will make a point of checking it out and seeing if I can fit it into my schedule after I become settled there.

I hope you are having a great July 4th weekend !!

We had another picnic committee meeting today and we have some exciting plans for our big August 28th "1st Annual Neohiopal Picnic" at Centerville Mills Camp.

Here are just a few of the activities ...

There will be several dozen groups and individuals performing on three stages: Vanity Crash and an all male version of Nunsense are just two of these groups.

Fields and courts available for softball, volleyball, basketball and frisbee.

A late evening campfire.

And, a Guinness Book size Pot Luck.

Sometime in the next two weeks, I will be sending out a message with a lot more details about the picnic.

One of the things we need to do in order to allow alcohol at the event is to have a security person on duty.   A few individuals and organizations have come forward with donations to help underwrite the day, but this could be a rather large expense.  If you know a policeman who would be willing to volunteer a few hours and take a shift, please contact me or have them contact me at this e-mail address or 216-496-6087.
