CAIN PARK presents=20
Pointe of Departure
August 5

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH =AD Take off in flight without even leaving your seat a=
s
Pointe of Departure returns to dance their way into Cain Park=B9s Evans
Amphitheater on August 5 at 8 pm. Tickets are $18/$16/$14 in advance and
$23/$21/$19 the day of the show.

Under co-artistic directors Karen Gabay and Raymond Rodriguez, Pointe of
Departure=B9s broad dance repertoire includes classical ballet, tap, modern
and theatrical jazz dancing, while the choreography correlates with the
diversity of music. The ensemble has proved to be an invigorating spin-off=
,
as both Gabay and Rodriguez are former Cleveland San Jose Ballet stars who
have maintained their longstanding Clevleand fans. With Pointe of
Departure, Gabay and Rodriguez have created an innovative and impressive
dance ensemble that wows audiences every season.

Gabay's dance vocabulary mixes classical technique with touches of jazz,
theater and character dance; all the dances performed on August 5 were
choreographed by Gabay, with the exception of Swan Lake, which was
originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and is being staged by Gabay..
Fifteen dancers will be participating this year representing America, Cuba,
Colombia, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina.

The company=B9s August 5 program will include: Jeux D'Enfants (story ballet
about 3 dolls coming to life for one lonely little girl to the music by
Bizet); Munecas, a pas de deux danced by two of the Cuban dancers to Cuban
music; White Swan Pas de Deux from Swan Lake, Act II (one of the major
classical pas de deux in the ballet repertoire danced by the Swan Maiden,
Odette, and her Prince Siegfried to the music of Tchaikovsky); Mon Ami
(danced by a romantic quartet to well-known torch songs sung by local jazz
singer Trisha O'Brien and accompanied by piano and bass); Tzigane (fiery,
gypsy-like pas de deux dance by Gabay and Rodriguez, accompanied by Lev
Polyakin, assistant concertmaster for the Cleveland Orchestra); and 2-2
Tango (various tangos "with a bite" including Astor Piazzola). For more
