TrueNorth Cultural Arts Announces New Exhibit
"Local Scenes & Images" is the title and subject of the present art show =
at TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center. It is a collection of over 40 large =
photographs and additional art pieces, combined to present some of the =
history of the Interurban Electric Railroad as it lived in this area.=20
Black & white photographs are on loan from the archives of Avon Lake's =
Reliant Electric, capturing moments of our communities' rich history. =
Throughout the photographs and etchings, passengers in their best 1920's =
outfits are seen bustling to board trains with what is presently =
TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center, once the Beach Park Station, in the =
background. TrueNorth's Center was once the repair barn for the train =
cars back in the early 1900's.
In the Courtyard Gallery, the exhibit continues adding more local faces =
and names to the display. Watercolor, acrylic, and pastel paintings of =
local scenes are interspersed, adding color and touches of the present =
time. Unique glass art, ceramics, weavings and jewelry round out the =
show. TrueNorth artists, as well as several local area artists, are =
featured.
Upstairs the studios and classrooms were once the rooms of the Saddle =
Inn Hotel. Today, TrueNorth showcases additional resident artist artwork =
in these rooms. Come visit, explore and learn of our educational =
programs, opportunities and facilities available to the community.=20
This unique show ends Saturday, August 28th. TrueNorth's summer hours =
are Wednesday & Thursday, noon - 6 p.m., and Friday & Saturday, noon - 5 =
p.m.
TrueNorth's next Art Show will feature Shapes, abstract to realistic, =
landscape to still life, with all media welcome . painting, drawing =
ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and fiber arts. The Shapes art show opens =
Wednesday, September 8th with its formal Art Opening Saturday evening, =
September 18th. The show will continue through October 31. Artists =
interested in submitting work should contact TrueNorth at 933-7771 or =
truenorth at TNCArts.org. Art will be collected at the Gallery on Saturday =
evening, 4/28, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, 4/29, noon - 6:00 =
p.m., and Monday, 4/30, 12 noon - 6:00 p.m.
Studio space is still available for local artists. Rooms vary from 200 - =
600 square feet each. Join our local artist colony. Come visit today!
