Chagrin Valley Little Theatre

Presents A Mid Summer Night's Dream

September 13, 2004 :  The details of William Shakespeare's life are =
sketchy, mostly based upon court or other clerical records.  William, =
the eldest son and the third of eight children, was born in 1564, =
probably on April 23, several days before his baptism on April 26 in =
Stratford-upon-Avon.  Shakespeare is also believed to have died on the =
same date - April 23, 1616.

In order for a title to have any meaning for the contemporary student of =
Shakespeare's play, its origin must be explained.  At the time the play =
was written, only three seasons were observed:  autumn, winter, and =
summer - which included what we now consider spring and began in March.  =
Therefore, the play, whose action takes place on the eve of May Day, =
actually is in midsummer as Shakespeare knew it.

    We invite you to attend a performance of Chagrin Valley Little =
Theatre's  A Mid Summer Night's Dream, the premiere                 =
production of our Steve Shields Players. Dedicated to developing the =
talents and skills of teens and young adults, our Players         will =
bring a fresh, invigorating perspective to this classic comedy.=20
