Lecture/demonstration
New World Performance Laboratory: 15 Years of Work and Research
Oct. 6, 5:30 p.m., Daum Theatre in Kolbe Hall
James Slowiak and Jairo Cuesta, co-artistic directors of NWPL, will present a slide show and discuss the companys work and research over the past 15 years. UA theatre students will be on hand to discuss their experience this past summer participating in NWPL workshops in Italy and France. Free and open to the public.

Who is Jean Genet?
Oct. 7, 7 p.m., Daum Theatre in Kolbe Hall
Director James Slowiak, UA English Professor Thomas Dukes, and UA Modern Languages Professor Jeanne-Helene Roy will introduce audience members to Jean Genet and discuss his importance as a contemporary playwright. Admission is free with a ticket to any performance of Deathwatch.

Open to all UA students.
Symposium
The Transmission of Technique: Actor Training in Northeast Ohio
Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m. to 5p.m., Sandefur Theatre in Guzzetta Hall
Teachers and actor trainers from across Northeast Ohio will gather at The University of Akron to discuss their various training techniques and the state of acting in Northeast Ohio. Free and open to the public.

Jerzy Grotowski: An Attempt at a Portrait
Oct. 13, 7 p.m., Daum Theatre in Kolbe Hall
James Slowiak and Jairo Cuesta, co-artistic directors of NWPL, will introduce a documentary film, recently produced by Polish and French television, about their mentor, the late director Jerzy Grotowski.
