Baldwin-Wallace College presents The Falsetto Trilogy, written by William
Finn. It will be showing October 26th to the 30th, and November 2 to the
6th. Falsetto consists of In Trousers, March of the Falsettos, and
Falsettoland. This play addresses the controversial issue of sexual
orientation.
All shows are held at the Kleist Center for Art & Drama building at 95E.
Bagley Road, Berea. They will begin at 8pm and audio descriptions are
available at the October 30th showing. Free parking and handicapped
parking is adjacent to Kleist. This show is for a mature audience. To
order tickets call the Baldwin-Wallace box office, 440-826-2240.
The plays are directed by Victoria Bussert, choreographed by Janience
Kelley-Kiteley, and the music director is Stewart Raleigh. The Falsetto
Trilogy is a musical about a bisexual man, Marvin, who seems to have
everything including the perfect wife and son. In Trousers explores
Marvin’s confusion about his sexuality. Eventually, Marvin leaves his
wife, Trina, for another man, Whizzer. March of Falsettos is about how
Marvin struggles to keep his family and lover connected as a unit, all
while Trina marries the family psychologist. While both parents are
adjusting to their new lives, the son, Jason is forced to discover who he
is and where he belongs. Finally, Falsettoland discusses AIDS and its
complications as Whizzer passes away from the disease.
In Trousers, March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland will be presented
individually on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the weeks of
October 26th to November 6th. On these evenings Baldwin-Wallace faculty
will provide “talk-backs” on sensitive issues that are discussed
throughout the plays. This Baldwin-Wallace production will be the first
time they are performed as a trilogy.
